Yeah, that interview.....

An e-magazine called me on October 1st, 1994 . . . it was The Cane. They wanted to interview me in reference to the cloning of Winston. They wanted to ask me what I thought of everything. I said “o.k.” and we scheduled a date.

I don’t remember all the questions they asked but here it goes. This was actually done online via satellite. I was at home.

    They started with an introduction about the fact that a company with great technology was about to create a clone at a specific stage in life. It wouldn’t get a chance to be a baby but begin life instantly as a young adult. It was very advanced and slightly controversial. We had already been cloning normally for the past 2 years.

Q - How do you know Winston?

A - I knew Winston from my last year in grade school. He noticed my drawing abilities and that’s when we spoke.

Q - Do you think he would behave the same?

A - I don’t know.

Q - How different would this Winston be?

A - The only thing that may be different would be the fact that he is not the real one.

Q - How would you refer to him as - Winston or Winston the clone?

A – I’d call him Winston.

Q - Would you still see him as one of your best friends?

A - yes

Q - Would you invite him to your gatherings?

A - Sure.

Q - Do you think his future will be (would have been) the same?

A -  I’m not sure because I feel as if they programmed him to be like the original Winston. This Winston can surely go a different path.

Q - How do you feel about cloning?

A - I think it’s good for science but there are religious people who oppose it. I think one should be weary of the conditions and time. Cloning does not bother me. I’m o.k. with it.

Q - Do you think you would you ever marry a clone?

A - That truly depends on how me and that person relate to each other.

Q - What do you think about the company cloning Winston?

A - Well if they’re being paid then they must provide the service.

Q - Do you approve - Do you think that they did the right thing? If you were his parents would you have cloned him?

A - I think what they did was right from their point of view. So yes. But I personally do not approve.

Q - What if he was on the verge of finding a cure for Ragen’s virus ? Would you clone him?

A - Yes.

Q - Do you think clones should have the same rights as people?

A - Yes but they should not be considered to be the same person as the original. They are a new person different from the original. They should be given a different social security number.

Q - Do you think Winston has a soul?

A - Sure.

Q - Would you support Winston against those who oppose cloning?

A - Yeah, well it depends.

Q - What would it depend on?

A – I can only speak for myself, not for the world. There are shades of grey. I need to be placed in that specific situation.

Q - Would you ever clone someone that may be significantly important to the world?

A - No I don’t think so.

Q - Would you clone Ziki?

A - No.

They never printed the last question. I guess they knew better.
